“A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN,” but no grass grows under the feet of tennis folks at LINCOLN TERRACE. They’re all set for the new season.
JUNIOR TENNIS TOURNAMENT
A LEVEL 1, USTA-Sanctioned Junior Tennis tournament is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12-13, 2009 at Haffen Park and Crotona Park, in the Bronx. Over 100 Junior players: boys and girls age 12, 14, and 16 are expected to participate, said tournament organizer Esmond Waldron from the Haffen Park Sports Association, Inc.
TENNIS BARBECUE AT “THE JUNGLE”
From MARVA @ Fred Johnson Park in Harlem: Tennis barbecue at “The Jungle” on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. (EDT). The event is FREE. Rotating tennis “clinics” (forehand, backhand, serve, volley) will be available; round-robin style random doubles play too. Top winners will receive “gag” trophies/gifts. Hot dogs and burgers will be provided. Bring a dish or condiments or beverages or ice. Hope to see you there. Happy Labor Day Holiday Weekend!
